Through the Eyes of Love children's book, dedicated to nurturing the emotional and social development of young children...

Welcome!
We are author, illustrator team, Kim Ely Morris and Wendy Byrd.  We invite you to browse our site and learn more about our first book, "Through the Eyes of Love".
Through the Eyes of Love is a children's picture book about eyes, filled with rhyming text and delightful illustrations.  This informative book teaches young children the differences we all can have with our sight.  Whether it may be a child learning to wear glasses for the first time, a child with low vision or a person with no eyesight, this book encompasses it all.  It allows children to learn about vision and diversity in simple terms to which they can relate and understand.  Our book not only teaches but also emphasizes that despite our differences we all can and will be loved by others.

Kim Morris is available for author signings and presentations for elementary school age children.   The books message will correlate with any curriculum involving the sense of sight, such as, second graders studying Helen Keller, diversity and character traits.  The presentation will offer a "hands on" experience.  The children will be given story and drawing paper which they will be able to use to create their own version of the story with illustrations.  Children will discover the world of "Braille" and  receive a braille alphabet card to take home!  Kim realizes the importance of capturing the reader's attention at this age level.  Her hope is the presentation will not only entice their reading interest but also spark their artistic imagination!
Please go to our school visits page for complete details on Kim's interactive school visits!

I know the children you work with are blessed and I wish you a great school year.'"  Kay M., Teacher from Mississippi
  • "Thanks for writing this book!  I love your book and have shared it with several of my students. The pictures are large enough and bright enough for my low vision students to see, and my blind students have enjoyed the story."  Teresa O., Teacher/Consultant, Program for the Visually Impaired for GCS
  • " I bought this book for my daughter and she absolutely loves it and even drew an illustration for it in art class. I think it is an absolute great book! I think that you and your illustrator should write more books like these because they are so well accepted by the children.  I really believe getting on their level helps them to become more interested as well as helps them to learn more.  Thank you so much for sharing your story and so much for writing this book."  Anita L., Parent  of a second grader
