Kim Morris and Wendy Byrd first met at the elementary school in which they were both employed. After writing the book, Kim knew Wendy would be the perfect person to illustrate. Wendy's artistic talent can be seen on the walls of the school. She takes pride in everything she does and especially loves the children. "Through the Eyes of Love" is their first writing and illustrating adventure. They hope their talents will touch the lives of many children in the years to come!
Kim lives with her husband, Scott, and their two children, Evan and Ellie, in Northwest North Carolina in the town otherwise known as Mayberry. She has worked in the elementary education field neatly two decades. Her inspiration for this children’s book comes from the chronic eye disease with which she was diagnosed over twenty years ago. This incurable, rather mysterious disease called “Ocular Histoplasmosis” has left her with low vision. Her hope is the book will help educate young children about sight differences and also raise awareness as to the importance of eye health and routine eye care. She hopes the books message will encourage children to be accepting of those around us whith differences!
Kim's job during the last several years has been tutoring elementary school children in reading thus helping them to achieve grade level proficiency. Overcoming the obstacles she faces because of this disease has allowed her to continue to work with children in the capacity that she holds dear. Kim dedicates this book to the many people who courageously live every day with little or no vision. During her free time, Kim enjoys watching her children play in various sports. She is actively involved in church and also serves on various committees.
Wendy Byrd was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, and now lives in Westfield, North Carolina with her husband, Ronnie. She has three step-children, Shane, William, and Jesse. She finds inspiration in everyday life, and through her illustrations, hopes to leave a legacy by sharing her art with children. In her free time, Wendy enjoys spending time outdoors, taking care of her numerous pets and giving art lessons to young children.

A message from the author, Kim Ely Morris: One of my favorite things to do is share my story and books message with students and educators. My decision to write Through the Eyes of Love was based upon two main influences. Those contributing influences were the chronic eye disease with which I was diagnosed over twenty years ago and my love of teaching children to read.
